Initial Listing of valves |
All the valves listed have been tested using either an AVO characteristic meter Mk III or a CT160, using the data given in the AVO valve data manual Vol 18. I have been testing valves on these testers since around 1963 and so hopefully there are very few mistakes, however I can't guarantee that there are none, so please bear with me if there's a problem, and drop me a line.
All the valves are tested to better than NOS (New old stock) standards which I understand are between 65% and 150% of the data book reading. Ours will normally be within 75% and 150% of the data book reading for the anode current, and at least a quarter of the way into the "Good" section for the Gm reading. A lot of these valves are better than this and we only claim them to be NOS if these look new and test new, preferably with either the box (or the pin protector if of the CV type).
Valves will be supplied with a label giving the Anode current and the Gm unless we can't test the valves.
Valves that we can't currently test are such as thyratrons, neon stabilisers, CRTs, magnetrons, and transmitting valves such as the QQV04-70 etc. The 813 type valves were all tested in our T1509 and gave at least 90% output.
Equivalents: whilst every effort has been made to give equivalents, it is up to you to check that the equivalent given is right for you. Some American valves have 3 different varieties (for instance the 6K8), where there is a metal one (6K8), a glass one (6K8G) and a glass tube one (6K8GT). Whilst they all have the same charactestics, the 6K8G won't necessarily fit in the same place as the other two varieties.
Shipping to the UKwill be charged when packed at £3.70 for up to 1 kilogram and £5.00 for 1 to 2 kilograms for each PayPal basket (cart), so if you are buying more than one item be sure to put them all in the same basket before you check out or you will be charged for shipping on multiple baskets. If the total weight comes to more than 2 kilograms or your shipping address is not in the UK, you will be notified of the charge by email and (if accepted) a separate invoice sent. Be aware that shipping to Europe will be at least £9 and to the USA at least £16.
Notes:
1. Please ensure the email and postal address you have registered with PayPal is correct or emails and parcels will go to the wrong address..
2. You will probably not receive the valve in the photo unless it's the only one we ever had.
Prices of the valves will hopefully be less than average prices found elsewhere. If you think a price is too high, please drop us a line telling us why and we'll have a think about it. If you want a valve where the price says TBD (to be decided), make us a sensible offer including shipping, and we'll let you know if it's acceptable.
Payment is only through PayPal. You can pay through PayPal with a credit card even if you don't have a PayPal account. When you "View Basket" you will see the option to do this.
If you should need to return a valve for any reason, please contact us first, telling us why you need to return the item and we will work out how to proceed.
